KITECH operates a research institute for each of its three key research areas in the South Korean cities Incheon, Ansan and Cheonan. In order to provide close-range support to SMEs located near their production sites, KITECH also operates regional divisions in Gwangju, Daegu, Busan, Gangneung, Ulsan, Jeonju and Jeju.

The Research Institute of Human-Centric Manufacturing Technology acts as a central hub for KITECH, developing converged production technologies and providing relevant support. The research institute focuses on Human-Centric Robotics, Autonomous Manufacturing & Process, User Convenience technology, Safety Convergence technology, and Textile Innovation technology. It operates R&D Groups to develop converged production technologies and provide support.

Lead future manufacturing industry by innovating traditional manufacturing activities to enhance collaboration between workers and technologies such as robots, and by conducting user-centered design and development of products, services and production systems.

Human-Centric Robotics R&D Department

  • Develop the world-best Manufacturing/Service robots technology (Cognitive Control, Vision Robot Intelligence, HRI, Autonomous Mobility, Medical/Rehabilitation Robot, Defense Robot, Space Robot)
  • Develop a robot platform HW/SW technology and commercialization technology applicable to manufacturing and related services

Autonomous Manufacturing & Process R&D Department

  • Develop intelligent/automated manufacturing process through digital transformation and worker-friendly manufacturing environment platform
  • Develop innovative process of future digital parts and human-friendly manufacturing process (H/W and S/W of intelligent semiconductors, displays, secondary batteries, fuel cells, sensors, etc.)

User Convenience Technology R&D Department

  • Develop materials, parts, products, platforms, and service technology that provide convenience directly or indirectly in user's life
  • Develop digital culture / emotion / healthcare platform for customized convenience and service delivery
  • Develop user risk assessment platform services for materials and products

Safety Convergence Technology R&D department

  • Develop convergence research on materials, products, services related to user safety
  • Develop convergent research on materials, products, services for the protection (living, manufacturing, and work environment)

Textile Innovation R&D Department

  • Develop textile-based advanced materials manufacturing and process technology
  • Develop human friendly manufacturing conversion technology and high value-added textile materials application technology

  • Demonstrate manufacturing robot for regional industry innovation
  • Develop packaging manufacturing process automation technology and eco-friendly functional packaging materials technology
