Research Institute of Sustainable Development Technology

KITECH operates a research institute for each of its three key research areas in the South Korean cities Incheon, Ansan and Cheonan. In order to provide close-range support to SMEs located near their production sites, KITECH also operates regional divisions in Gwangju, Daegu, Busan, Gangneung, Ulsan, Jeonju and Jeju.

The Research Institute of Sustainable Development Technology operates R&D Groups involved in the research and application of production system technologies. With a particular emphasis on the development of zero emission and green conversion technologies, the research institute is responsible for fostering production automation at SMEs and for developing an energy-efficient and environmentally friendly production system.

Organization

Low-Carbon Emission Control R&D Department

  • Develop carbon-free fuel production and utilization, measurement of air pollutants and greenhouse gases, emissions control, waste resource circulation, thermochemical conversion, and process energy / environmental digital conversion

Industrial Energy R&D Department

  • Develop highly efficient industrial energy (fluid, heat) equipment, waste heat utilization and energy storage, heat pump and cooling system, and eco-friendly refrigerant application technology

Green Circulation R&D Department

  • Develop chemical up-cycling materials and processes, replacement/utilization/ removal of environmentally hazardous materials, highly efficient and functional eco-friendly materials

Low-Carbon Transition R&D Department

  • Develop low-carbon emitting chemical materials and processes, materials utilizing carbon dioxide, and production processes of human/environmentally friendly materials

Industrial Transformation Technology Department

  • Develop manufacturing system efficiency, energy reduction, eco-friendly manufacturing technology, smart sensor-based industrial safety service technology

Regional Industrial Innovation Department (ESH)

  • Develop Environment / Safety / Health technologies through R&D project planning and conducting with local governments and companies
