Gangwon Technology Application Division

KITECH operates a research institute for each of its three key research areas in the South Korean cities Incheon, Ansan and Cheonan. In order to provide close-range support to SMEs located near their production sites, KITECH also operates regional divisions in Gwangju, Daegu, Busan, Gangneung, Ulsan, Jeonju and Jeju.
Gangwon Technology Application Division (Functional Materials)
Gangwon Technology Application Division (Functional Materials), established in Gangneung, Korea, in 2012, focuses primarily on nurturing the non-ferrous metal industries in the East Sea rim region. The division is committed to developing technologies related to non-ferrous metal materials, renewable energy, bio-processing and bio-materials, and to supporting SMEs in the Gangwon region.

Develop non-ferrous material manufacturing technology, smart nano-material technology, and additive manufacturing parts and products commercialization technology as key research areas.

Organization

Functional Materials and Components Group

  • Develop original technology for manufacturing functional material parts (non-ferrous materials and parts, additive manufacturing process-based parts, smart nano-materials and parts, root technology-based materials)
  • Develop commercialization technology for regional specialized industries (advanced ceramic materials and components in extreme environments, additive materials and processes for medical equipment and aviation parts, materials and parts for hydrogen energy storage and generation)
  • Establish technical cooperation networks for SMEs in Gangwon (supportings with professional manpower and infrastructure, total-solutions for engineering companies, package-type supportings (test/analysis/evaluation/certification), technical seminars and corporate community)
  • Develop strategies for the regional manufacturing sector (establishment of new growth industries with local governments and innovation organizations, building a foundation for industrial advancement through the establishment of local networks, suggestions of regional development strategy)
